Chikugo Art Farm Project 2019: Art Works Upon Our Mind – Where Beauty Comes From

Chikugo Art Farm Project is an art project that features regional characteristics, body, and nature. It started in 2014 at Kyushu Geibun-kan (Chikugo City, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan). This time, we present the group exhibition by three artists on the theme of “beauty.”

Abe Sachiko creates a pure world of her own, which no one can intervene, through her act of cutting papers. Motoda Noritoshi fills the space with his life story, including taking care of his family and his fantasy toward idols. While their art can be seen as an act of self-salvation, Uthit Atimana pursues the possibility of art that functions in society with various collaborators.

While art and society have become closer through trends in art festivals and participatory exhibitions under the movement of regional revitalization, this exhibition seeks to focus on the starting point of art, the root of “beauty.” Through the artistic practices of three artists who differ from one another, please feel the root of “beauty” that moves our heart by going beyond time, space, and languages.
